Miranda Burton

Miranda began dancing at the age of 3 under the instruction of Cathy Stevens where she continued to take classes in Tap, Ballet & Modern until the age of 18.  After taking a break to gain her degree in Drama & Psychology she returned to dance embarking on her ISTD teacher training through Bristol College of Dancing.  On achieving her full qualifications in all genres she took over as Principal at Bristol College of Dancing, a role she continues today.  She continued her advanced teacher training through the ISTD gaining Licentiate status in both Modern and Tap and achieving Approved Tutor Status allowing her to deliver all units of the DDI & DDE.  She continues to deliver all units at the college in Bristol and Chippenham at the Dancing Academy, alongside providing training as a distance learning tutor for candidates across the country.  In addition to her tutoring commitments she continues to teach all levels at her own school Dance Inspirations in Bristol, as well as teaching for other established schools and providing one to one sessions for students and teachers.  She has a commitment to maintaining her level of knowledge and attends numerous courses both regionally and in London.  She has recently been selected as a member of the ISTD Members Education and Training Group; requiring her to travel to HQ throughout the year and discuss any current issues and upcoming initiatives. With an established comprehension of the ISTD work she has recently introduced both Progressive Ballet Technique, IDT Contemporary syllabus, Acrobatic Arts and Barre&Baby to her CV.  She still manages to find time to be Head Coach of the UWE competitive cheerleading squad; a role she has fulfilled for the last 10 years.  Miranda is fortunate to have a very supportive and understanding husband who is very good at sharing the responsibility of their young daughter!
